Thomas Omoniyi Church Retention Strategy: One of the greatest challenges the pastors and the workers are confronting is membership retention. This makes pastoring unfulfilling and frustrating. It was Nelson Searcy in his book, the Fusion, that suggested 5% (1/20) retention of first-time guests. Many churches cannot achieve this recommendation. Growth strategy in any church can be developed from three strategic approaches: 1. Evangelism approach 2. Retention of the first-time guests’ approach. 3. Management of the members’ approach For my MBA (Leadership and Theology) project, I embarked on developing a strategy for church membership retention. I simply dwelled on the retention of first-time guests approach due to the during given to the project.
